Wisconsin winters can be tough - that's something we can all agree on. While it's easy to stay inside to escape the cold, we would rather make the most of our snowy months and create new memories each year. We've rounded up a list of 5 winter experiences you should try to help fight those winter blues!
Play in the Snow!
There are countless ways to get out and enjoy the winter weather in the Verona area…whether you are looking for something family-friendly, or looking for a solo experience, we’ve got something for everyone! Try tubing or skiing at Tyrol Basin, cross country ski at University Ridge, ice skate at Elver Park or snowshoe the Ice Age Trail. Maybe even head downtown Madison to checkout the lakefront ice rink with a rink-side pub and eatery, serving up hot cocoa, adult beverages and some tasty bites too!
Celebrate the Season!
There are plenty of things to celebrate over the winter in our area... if you wanted, you could enjoy festivities every weekend. Here are a few of our favorites... Try Festive Fridays at Wollersheim, the Christkindl Market in New Glarus, Scandihoovian Winter Festival, Caroling at Cave of the Mounds or Madison's signature winter fest - the Frozen Assets Festival.
If embracing winter by being outside just isn’t your jam, treat yourself to a relaxing experience indoors. Book a massage or pedicure or a relaxing getaway where you can curl up indoors and watch the snowfall. Try a facial at Rooted Culture, relax during a pedicure at Lavish Nail Lounge or book a staycation and enjoy the indoor pool at one of our great local hotels.
Try Something New!
Now is the perfect time to try something new–whether that’s playing, eating, sipping, or exploring. If you haven’t tried any of these experiences yet, we encourage you to do so! Experience sipping in a shanty at Brix Cider, sample seasonal brews at Wisconsin Brewing and the Hop Haus, visit the Zoo after hours under the glow of almost one million lights during Zoo Lights or find a new book to curl up with at Kismet Books.
Catch a Show!
Enjoy a performance indoors at The Fireside Dinner Theater, see what's on the schedule for the Verona Area Performing Arts series or head downtown to the Overture Center.
