Is my event eligible for a Verona Tourism Hotel Room Tax (HRT) Grant?
If your event will enhance and promote tourism in the Verona area and be reasonably likely to generate overnight stays, then you are eligible to apply for a grant.
How much could I be awarded for my event?
The maximum amount of funding per event/project application for the fiscal year is $4,000. Typical grants awarded are usually between $750 - $2,000, based on the number of participants expected.
When can I apply for a grant?
Grant applications are reviewed monthly and can be submitted as much as 12 months in advance of an event but must be received at least 2 months before the event date. Funds will be awarded in the quarter that the event is held or within 30 days of receipt of all post event data, when applicable.
How do I track room nights for my event?
If you are looking for a grant of over $750 that requires data on room nights, there are several ways you can track that information. You can set up a room block (or blocks) at hotels and ask the hotel to provide a report on the number of rooms that are booked in the block. Some event hosts may want to work with us to create an event package that includes the hotel stay in the event registration. You can also ask event participants to indicate where they are staying as part of the event registration or send a post event survey. We are happy to work with event organizers on setting up the best way to collect information for your event.
